Team Spotlight | 319 E. 51st Street

As you’ve seen by now, and if you’ve known us for a while, you’ve noticed that we’re light on tooting our own horn. That’s not so say we don’t share moments of pride or particular accomplishments, but we steer clear of more traditional, persistent horn tooting.

We prefer to let our clients tell our story, which is how we’ve built our business over the years – from referrals of clients who have trusted us and, in turn, trust our team with their friends and family to ensure the best experience and the optimal outcome for them.

To that end, we wanted to share a client relationship story that reflects the above, based on a recently signed contract for the townhouse at 319 East 51st Street. We initially sold this property to our dear clients; after renovating it with meticulous attention to detail (and brilliantly, we might add), they entrusted us with their real estate needs, again. After successfully listing the property for them, culminating into a signed contract, we are now helping them find their new home.

To us, a client is more than just one singular transaction and this story is proof that we are committed beyond the transaction. We are committed to you and our relationship over the years, through different market cycles, and frankly through different life cycles as your needs change. We are honored and blessed to fill this role, and we never take it for granted.

Thank you for your long-term support and trust!

5th Annual Holiday Jingle

T’was the night before New Years, and all through New York
One could hear sounds of Brut champagne being uncorked.
Sellers rejoiced o’er a prosperous year,
While buyers embraced a less crazed atmosphere.

So what have we learned in 2016?
First, that global investors still liked the routine
Of finding safe haven from local duress
By plopping their cash in a New York address.

We realized that this year’s full real estate tale
Could largely be described on a Goldilocks scale:
Not too hot, not too cold, but just right for our taste,
Yet far different than the 2015 crazed pace.

Buyers remained motivated to buy
In no tiny part to the bond market highs
Which kept interest rates at historical lows,
Both for conforming loans and those bigger jumbos.

So markets thus followed a ho-hummish pace
Until came along this year’s presidential race.
Between it and its respective stock market swings,
Both buyers and sellers scampered to the wings.
(As you likely well know and you’ll surely agree:
real estate doesn’t mix well with uncertainty.)

Which brings us to a more non-real-estate view
Of what happened this year for our year-in-review.
Beginning with us, we are proud to proclaim
We now have Margolis | Espinal | Adler as our team name!

Our very own Howard this year became wed,
As we all wished him much happiness in beloved years ahead.
The Cubs won the series, post a century’s drought,
Ailes got himself fired in a media flameout.

Adele’s world-wide tour is now well underway,
While the Four Seasons closed, much to foodies’ dismay.
Queen Elizabeth’s age topped some 90 years old,
Living long enough to see the Brexit unfold.

Will the NYC real estate mogul succeed
Or will we be consumed by our fear and our greed?
Our city’s own outlook is robust, to be sure,
Yet the gap seems to widen between rich and poor.

Will we learn from our past? Will we heal our divide?
Will self-driving cars rule the roads nationwide?
Will the Lower East Side be next year’s trendy ‘hood?
Will L-train’s hiatus fuel the innovation it should?

Alas, we know not what the future will bring.
Most forecasts survive on a prayer and a wing.
Let’s think back and be grateful for this past, vibrant year,
And for our team being quoted here, here, here and here.

If you have a good job, go enrich others’ lives.
If you have some great friends, go give some high-fives.
If you have a nice home, bless the roof overhead,
If your family’s around, go make some gingerbread.
If you have some great kids, go give them a huge kiss.
No need to say more; you’re getting the gist.

As we end this short prose, in conclusion we write:
Happy New Year to all, and to all a good night!

Traditional Home Magazine – Townhouse Cocktail Event

Margolis Team Cocktail Event

Last night we hosted Traditional Home Magazine and guests at our stunning Townhouse listing at 319 E. 51st Street.  Our impeccable six floor Townhouse listing was the perfect backdrop to host Senior Editor Designer, Tori Mellott, and her esteemed guests for a mid-summer cocktail party!  The infamous and always fun, Monkey Bar provided delicious hors d’oeuvres from tuna tartare to, our team’s favorite, homemade mini chocolate ganache pies! The specialty cocktail of the night was The Bandito – a jalapeno-infused tequila (get the recipe below).

As the guests mingled and received private tours from our team, the talented Craig Hartley played a beautiful set mixing classical tunes with today’s favorites. The 5-piece band’s private show was the highlight of the evening, gathering all of the guests to the Garden Floor as the sunset.

With all of the delightful happenings taking place inside the private event, we wanted to be sure to share some of the excitement with all of you! Therefore, we filmed a short live tour for you to experience the beauty of the Townhouse and the delight of the evening.  You can see it live, here.

We wanted to give a big thanks to all of those who attended the event and who enjoyed an evening with us at our Townhouse listing.  Stay tuned for more updates, coming soon!

Last week, our team was honored at The Ellies at the iconic Radio City Musical Hall.  It was a memorable night, not just because the Rockettes kicked off the event, but we took home the highest honor – the Elliman Million Dollar Pinnacle Club award.  Being ranked for the 5th consecutive year was such a memorable experience and we are looking forward to earning the spot again in 2017.   Here are a few of our favorite moments at the Ellies.
